The Ultimate Romantic Christmas Getaway for Two

Christmas is one of the best times of the year. The temperature begins to drop, and snow begins to fall, turning an average setting into something magical and, if you plan it right, very romantic.

While Christmas time can be stressful, it can also be the perfect time to breakaway with the one you love and show them an extra special time. If this sounds like the perfect way to spend this year’s Christmas break, this is how to plan the ideal holiday getaway just for two.

How You Travel

Travelling over the peak holiday season can begin and end as a rough and trying experience. The crowds at the airport and the lines you need to stand in can be more than a little maddening; flights may be incorrectly booked or overbooked by mistake, and things may run late.

Imagine this for a moment: the sun is setting outside the window of your commercial flight. You and your partner each have a glass of champagne in hand, and you’re excited for your trip to begin. You lean in for a kiss, and as you do, an unruly child in the seat behind you sticks their head between your seats to try and look out the window. Sound a bit much? Then save yourself all this stress and start the romance on the right and most luxurious note: book a private jet charter.

If you book well in advance, you might get access to appealing discounts, but even at full price, a private jet experience is worth so much more than money. Your travel experience will begin in a calm, orderly fashion, and you’ll have more couple time than you otherwise would. You can nap, cuddle, plan excursions, or just enjoy the comfort of the pristine interiors of the cabin all to yourselves.

Your Destination

Where you live is likely to impact where you’d like to go for a couple’s Christmas vacation. If you live somewhere that gets very cold weather and a lot of snow, it’s probably going to be a tropical choice for you. If you live somewhere that never has real weather you may want to go somewhere you’ll be able to have a classic (and incredibly romantic) white Christmas.

Here are some exciting and even unusual Christmas destinations to consider when you’re planning your trip.

Germany: The Christmas markets are world famous and you’ll feel like you stepped into a Christmas card.
Barbados: This is like stepping into a postcard rather than a Christmas card and will chase all the winter blues away. Kayak for two, please!
Switzerland: Another incredible white Christmas destination, Switzerland offers all the classic Christmassy excitement and charm you could ever want.
Spain: The Spanish know how to celebrate! They don’t even need a reason. Spain is for lovers, so Christmas surrounded by stunning culture might be just what the doctor ordered.

Your Accommodation

Booking accommodation in advance may mean you get access to discounts, but at the very least, you’ll know where you’re sleeping before you leave for your trip. Booking in advance also means that you’ll get the first pick of the best options, so don’t leave it till the last minute.

Romance can mean different things to different people, so really think about who you and your partner are as a couple while you’re planning your accommodation. Adventurous types might want something a little bit more rugged but with easy, close access to nature. People who like their creature comforts will likely want a room with high thread count sheets and great room service. Don’t just say to yourself, “Well, that looks nice” when booking accommodation. Take your time, go through the options, and really think about it. This is guaranteed to take your trip from good to great.

Your Experiences

Travelling over the holiday season will mean that destinations become incredibly busy. We know we’re really harping on the “book in advance” point, but it will make your experience so much better. Desirable restaurants, classes, tours, and the like will all be booked up well in advance of December, so be sure to sit down and decide on at least some itinerary items far in advance.

Tailor your experiences to your likes and be logical about what you book for example, don’t book a couples massage and then a hike immediately afterwards!

While this is a couples trip, and you obviously want to experience your travels together, we advise that you plan for a little bit of alone time here and there for each of you to decompress and just be. Even if it’s as simple as a long soak in the bath or a solo walk at the end of a long day, including these times will prevent any possible friction (which can happen to absolutely any couple at any time) and give you each space to breathe.

Remember To Appreciate Every Moment

Every time you travel and every minute you get to spend with your significant other is something to be treasured. Remember to breathe, take a look around, and appreciate where you are and who you’re with.

All I want for Christmas is you

…and an exciting trip, obviously! Your Christmas trip will be the gift you didn’t know you both
needed and set you up for a wonderful start to the new year together. Bon voyage!
