Ingredients needed for strawberry latte

Scroll down to the recipe card for exact quantities.

Long espresso shot – I used a Starbucks lungo nespresso pod but you could use any espresso machine or cafetiere/Italian Moka pot.

Whole milk – semi-skimmed cow’s milk and any milk alternatives like oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk etc. As long as you can heat and froth.

Honey – it should be a runny honey for ease of pouring, but if you don’t have any on hand, any honey will work. Maple syrup or Acacia is also fine.

Lavender syrup – I used the Monin lavender syrup for quickness but you could use a homemade lavender syrup.

Whipped cream – feel free to use a whipped fresh cream if you don’t have any whipped cream bottles.

Decorations – decor is optional. I liked the red and pink hearts for a valentine’s themed coffee.

Why you’ll love this recipe

Try something different – I don’t think many people can say they’ve tried lavender in their coffee! You’ll never go back to a classic latte.

Simple ingredients – Most of these ingredients you’ll have in the cupboard already (coffee, milk etc) and once you’ve bought the syrups, they’ll last months.

Save money – making your own coffee at home is the economical option! Why go to Starbucks coffee shops when you can make your own copycat lavender latte at home?

Valentine’s themed coffee drinks

If you’re looking to treat your loved one with a fancy coffee this Valentines day, why not try a delicious Starbucks copycat white chocolate mocha? It’s honestly just like the original!

If you’re maybe looking for something that screams Valentines, then my red velvet latte with a cream cheese topping will suit! It tastes just like the cake and is a pink drink! Very on theme if you ask me.

Equipment needed

Coffee maker – I used a nespresso machine but you could also use an espresso maker with your favorite coffee beans, or even an Italian moka pot or French press.

Milk frother – I like to use my Lavazza Modo Mio but any frother will do, even a handheld frother.

Measuring spoons

Latte glass – or any wide-rimmed glass for the most epic amount of cream!

what can I serve a lavender latte with?

Serve your lavender latte with a scrumptious breakfast, like my sweet African Fat Cakes; Easy Crepes or Spanish French-style toasts

Lavender Latte Recipe (step by step)

Step 1 – Make your long coffee how you usually would. I used a Starbucks Lungo nespresso pod in my machine and made the coffee directly into my glass.

Step 2 – Stir the honey into your coffee.

Step 3 – Pour your choice of milk into your frother or a container you are going to froth the milk in and add the lavender syrup. Froth.

Step 4 – Pour the frothed milk over the coffee.

Step 5 – Decorate with whipped cream and if you’re feeling extra fancy, any sprinkles you have chosen!

Lavender Simple Syrup Recipe

If you wish you make your own lavender syrup, here’s how –

You’ll want to make a simple syrup with 100ml water and 100g sugar and bring to a boil. Add in dried lavender flowers (food/culinary lavender buds) and leave the syrup to cool. Once cool, strain and your syrup is ready to use.

Lavender simple syrup will keep in the fridge for 2-3 weeks in a jar/bottle/container.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make this coffee vegan?

Of course! You can use your favourite milk: oat, coconut, whichever you fancy. As long as you can heat/froth it well. A vegan whipped cream could be used too.

What is lavender latte made of?

Lavender latte consists of coffee, honey, frothed milk with lavender syrup and whipped cream.

How can I make this an iced lavender latte?

Brew your coffee; add the syrup to your milk and don’t heat/froth. Add a handful of ice cubes. You can still decorate and use whipped cream if you wish too. Iced latte is perfect for a sunny day!

Can I use maple syrup instead of honey?

Honey isn’t the only option, thankfully. Maple syrup would make a great swap for honey.

How can I froth my milk without a milk frother?

There’s no need for fancy equipment! You can do the old mason jar trick. Warm your milk and pour into a mason jar. Put on the lid and shake until frothed! A steam wand is a great option and economical to buy.

Does lavender latte make you sleepy?

I didn’t find it made me sleepy but warm milk can have sleepy effects! I think the coffee hit will stop you falling asleep entirely though.
