Homemade Easy strawberry Latte Recipe (Starbucks copycat)

We all need a sweet pick me up every now and then. Coffee is my go-to. Always! This strawberry latte copycat recipe is sweet but not too sweet, resembling the strawberries and cream we eat in the summer months. It’s an easy recipe and tastes just like the Starbucks version!

I’ve seen a lot of iced strawberry latte recipes on the web but not a lot of people recreating the much-loved Starbucks strawberry latte. I’m surprised as it’s so simple to make. It uses shop-bought vanilla and strawberry syrup just to make life easier!

My copycat Starbucks strawberry latte recipe will envelope you in coziness whilst give you promises of what’s to come in the summer: fresh strawberries and cream. A delicious drink for a cosy afternoon.

Ingredients needed for strawberry latte

Scroll down to the recipe card for exact quantities.

Espresso shot – I used a nespresso pod but you could use any espresso machine as long as you can get a small amount of coffee.

Whole milk – semi-skimmed and any milk of choice like oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk etc. As long as you can heat and froth.

Strawberry syrup – I like the Monin strawberry syrup. You can also use homemade strawberry syrup.

Vanilla syrup – I used a ready-made plant-based natural vanilla syrup for quickness but a homemade version is good too and simple to make.

Whipped cream – feel free to use a whipped fresh cream if you don’t have any whipped cream bottles.

Decorations – decor is optional. I liked the mini jazzies for a fun coffee.

Why you’ll love this recipe

Save money – making your own coffee at home is the economical option! Why go to Starbucks when you can make your own copycat strawberry latte at home?

Simple ingredients – Most of these ingredients you’ll have in the cupboard already (coffee, milk etc) and once you’ve bought the syrups, they’ll last months. Strawberry lattes for days then!

New favorite drink – I get bored making the same coffee day in day out, so I’m glad I’ve tried this as I now have a new coffee to add to my repertoire! Below you’ll find other coffees i’ve tried recently…

Valentine’s themed coffee drinks

If you’re looking to treat your loved one with a fancy coffee this Valentines day, why not try a delicious Starbucks copycat white chocolate mocha? It’s honestly just like the original!

If you’re maybe looking for something that screams Valentines, then my red velvet latte with a cream cheese topping will suit! It tastes just like the cake and is a pink drink! Very on theme if you ask me.

Equipment needed

Coffee maker – I used a nespresso machine but you could also use an espresso machine with freshly ground coffee beans, or even an Italian moka pot or French press.

Milk frother – I like to use my Lavazza Modo Mio but any frother will do, even a handheld frother.

Measuring spoons

Latte glass – or any tall glass will do, even your fave mug if you’re not too bothered with not seeing the coffee.

How to make a strawberry latte (step by step)

Step 1 – Make your espresso how you usually would. I used a nespresso pod in my machine and made the coffee directly into my latte glass.

Step 2 – Pour your choice of milk into your frother or a container you are going to froth the milk in and add the strawberry syrup. Froth.

Step 3 – Add the vanilla syrup to your coffee and stir.

Step 4 – Pour the frothed milk over the coffee.

Step 5 – Decorate with whipped cream and any sprinkles you have chosen.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make this coffee vegan?

Of course! You can use your favourite milk: oat, coconut, whichever you fancy. As long as you cano heat/froth it well. A vegan whipped cream could be used too.

How can I make this an iced latte?

Brew your coffee; add the syrup to your milk and don’t heat/froth. Add ice cubes. You can still decorate and use whipped cream if you wish too. Brilliant for a hot day!

How can I make my own strawberry syrup?

You’ll need to cook some real strawberries and sugar in a pan until they are all mushed and the sugar has dissolved. Strain your strawberries in a sieve, getting all the syrup out. Allow it to cool. You could also add some lemon juice to the strawberries during cooking to help preserve the syrup. Store in an airtight container and in the fridge. It’ll last for a week or so If refrigerated. You could also freeze it in ice cube trays and defrost as you need.

I don’t like coffee but I like milk and strawberries. Can I omit the coffee?

Yes! Why not make homemade strawberry milk instead. Follow the steps but without the coffee. Delicious!

Can I use maple syrup instead of vanilla?

Maple syrup would make a great swap for vanilla syrup. Maple is touch sweeter but it would still taste good.

Can I make this a frozen strawberry coffee frappe?

This would be an amazing drink! Yes! You’ll just need to blend your milk with the syrup, the shots of espresso, ice cubes and strawberry ice cream. Finish with the whipped cream and decorations! The perfect drink for a summer‘s day.

A tall glass full of coffee, topped with whipped cream.
